Fiber Optic Sensing System "FBI-Gauge"

With a single optical fiber, extensive strain and temperature measurements are achieved! Traditional spot measurements can now be performed as distributed measurements over lines and surfaces!

Are you facing challenges or requests in strain measurement and temperature measurement like these? "I can only measure parts of the object and want to measure a wider area easily." "I want to measure in narrow gaps that are hard to reach." "I want to conduct measurements in environments with electromagnetic fields or where open flames are prohibited." The "FBI-Gauge" is a sensing system for strain and temperature that utilizes optical fibers as sensors. It allows for continuous measurement along the optical fiber, enabling not only point measurements but also continuous and extensive line and surface measurements. Since it does not use a large number of strain gauges or thermocouples, installation costs and time can be significantly reduced. There are various measurement achievements, including torsion tests of vehicle bodies, temperature measurements on radiator thermometers, strain measurements in pressure tanks, and temperature measurements inside fuel cells. 【Features】 ■ Capable of line and surface measurements, not just point measurements ■ Significantly reduced sensor weight ■ Usable in electromagnetic environments and fire-prohibited areas ■ Can be attached with a flexible layout ■ Capable of diverse measurements of strain and temperature with a single sensor *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Disaster Prevention Applications of Optical Fiber Sensing = Basic Knowledge = [Free Download]

You can download a free booklet filled with hints to solve conventional sensing issues!

A light sensing system is a system that utilizes light for sensing. (1) It uses reflected light. -- Human expressions, distance measurement (2) It uses emitted light. -- Optical pyrometer (3) It uses absorbed light. -- Optical absorption gas analyzer (4) It utilizes optical fibers in the sensing system. (a) Used only as optical waveguides (b) The optical fiber itself is used as a sensor (fiber optic sensing) 【Practical Advantages】 (1) By measuring as a line and arranging it in a mesh configuration, it can measure over an area (distributed measurement is possible). (2) It does not require measures against electromagnetic noise or explosion-proofing. (3) It has durability and allows for stable measurements over a long period. (4) By connecting additional optical fibers or expanding with optical channel selectors, the system can be easily expanded and diversified, allowing for the monitoring of multiple structures. ↓ (Engineers do not need to compromise, enabling the construction of an appropriate monitoring system) ↓ Maintenance costs can be reduced, primarily lowering the LCC. ● For more details, please check the [Catalog Download].

Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS/DVS) System

Existing fiber can also be used! Continuous monitoring of long-distance sections over 50 km for 24 hours! Detects earthquakes, leaks, and other anomalies!

Our company's distributed acoustic vibration sensing system (DAS/DVS) is a system that captures vibrations received by installed optical fibers as acoustic energy. Essentially, it utilizes existing optical fiber networks (such as transportation and communication networks) to acquire data in real-time, effectively turning the network itself into a distributed acoustic sensor. In recent years, it has been used to detect minute vibrations caused by seismic waves, leaks or water seepage in factory piping, and various other abnormal sounds, as well as to pinpoint their locations. Our measurement devices are less susceptible to the effects of fading signals commonly observed in systems using other C-OTDR principles, thanks to our unique 2P squared technology. In the ultra-low frequency range, the phase difference method C-OTDR system can sensitively measure transient temperatures caused by the expansion and contraction of fibers due to temperature changes. This method is known as distributed temperature gradient sensing (DTGS) and is well-known in the oil and gas industry. We are conducting research to measure and utilize a wide variety of phenomena using this product in collaboration with various research institutes, universities, and companies in Japan. For more details, please contact us directly or through this website.
